Did you know that Dr Pepper and Clamato are both owned by the Keurig Dr Pepper company? It’s true! What better way to showcase the brand than by combining these two distinct beverages. I call this one the Dr Pepperato, and I think it could turn into the drink of the Summer.

I recommend starting with fresh clams that you’ll steam in a broth made of 1 part water, 1 part Dr Pepper. Once the clams have opened fully (about 7 minutes), remove from the steamer and allow to cool. Reserve your Dr Pepper steaming broth because you’ll use that for ice cubes in the next step. Take your steamed clams, place them in an ice cube mold, and fill with the Dr Pepper broth. The clams should have imparted a bit of clam juice into the broth, so it adds an extra hit of clam as the “clam cube” dissolves in the beverage.

After the clam cubes are frozen, spread Tajin around the rim of a wide mouthed goblet. Gently add your clam cubes, and pour 2/3 of the way full with cold Dr Pepper. Fill the rest of the way with your choice of Clamato (I used the original flavor). Garnish with an extra clam shell if you have one, and enjoy! Dr Pepperato is sweet, briny, and ready to refresh all of your Summer BBQ guests. I wish that I had added a squeeze of fresh lemon, but I’ll definitely remember for the next round.
Warning: This post is for entertainment purposes only. Dr Pepperato was horrific. One of the very few times that I’ve gagged while making content for this blog, and the flavor really stuck with me for several hours.
