Happy National French Fry Day! This year the celebration falls on July 11th, but be careful when marking your calendars. Originally this holiday was recognized on July 13th every year. However, back in 2022 Checkers and Rally’s combined their lobbying forces together (lol) to make sure that it always fell on a Friday…or Fry-Day. While this is a little harder to keep track of, I think that the change was worth the inconvenience.

How to Celebrate?

There are TONS of restaurants posting deals for Fry-Day. Some of these are unique to July 11, and some of these are ongoing promotions (still important, but not as special). Here are a few examples, but please shoot me a note with anything else that you find:

  • McDonald’s – Free medium order of fries every Friday when you purchase at least $1 or more through their app. Temporary promo allowing an additional medium fry through July 13th.
  • Checkers & Rally’s – Promo available today only where you get a free large fry if you bring in a receipt for fries from another restaurant. Very fun.
  • Fatburger – Free order of Fat or Skinny Fries when you purchase a burger or sandwich online with promo code FRYDAY25. Good through July 13.
  • Jack in the Box – Free fries with any order (any size). Good throughout 2025, but only on Fridays. Might only be in the app.
  • Sonic – Free medium order of fries or tots with any purchase. Today only.
  • Wendy’s – Also doing free Fry-Days through the app.

How am I Celebrating?

I’m pretty busy today, so I’m delaying my celebration until tomorrow. I’m planning on doing a French Fry Crawl through the Seattle neighborhood of Ballard. This is similar to my 24 Hour French Fry Marathon that I did last October, but more open-ended. I’m going to visit as many as I reasonably can and actually enjoy the experience. Check out my video of the marathon from last year, though!

What Else???

I’m slowing making my way through a comprehensive ranking of fast food french fries. My goal is to be thorough, with video documentation and a variety of measurements and observations. Here’s a link to my current rankings, and see below for the video playlist of where I’ve visited so far. Please let me know where you’d like to see me visit next!
