After trying Sprite’s Limited Edition Vanilla Frost flavor, I was immediately inspired to leverage it as a mixer in a holiday punch. I had a few ingredients on hand for the experiment, and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Here’s the recipe:

  • 1 part Vanilla Frost Sprite (or regular Sprite)
  • 1 part high quality eggnog (I used Smith Brothers Farms)
  • Splash of zero alcohol whiskey/rum (I used Monday Zero Alcohol Whiskey). Probably 2 tsp for a 3/4 ounce glass
  • Fresh nutmeg to grate on top

Vanilla Frost Sprite is an excellent mixer for this punch because it’s highly carbonated, sweet, and the vanilla plays nicely with the creamy base of eggnog. Also, the lemon/lime flavors add a tanginess to the richness that makes it taste lighter and more refreshing. The carbonation does a similar trick. The eggnog foams up a bit which also lightens the drink. You could always stop after combining these two elements, but the splash of zero alcohol whiskey adds some body and spice to the punch that I really enjoyed. Specifically, the Monday Whiskey imparts notes of mulling spices, and that’s further complimented by the fresh nutmeg on top.

I think this works, and it could be made in a larger batch and served to guests. If you try this, I’d love to hear from you. Let me know if you liked it!
