After trying Dr Pepper with Pickles I couldn’t help but wonder what other combinations may or may not work with Dr. Pepper. I don’t know how far this unholy mocktail quest will take us, but Dr Peperconcini was an obvious first step to me.

The ingredients are Dr Pepper, 3 whole pickles peperoncini peppers, and a splash of peperoncini brine. The result was similar to the Dr Pepper with Pickles vibe, but just a little less approachable. Peperoncini brine has less nuance to it than dill pickle brine, so it’s an immediate hit of vinegar and heat to the nostrils as the fizz carries it to your nose. After getting past that it was smooth sailing and I drank the whole glass. There was a bit of spice to it, but not more than your standard Bloody Mary. If you like the idea of Bloody Mary’s but are in the mood for a soda instead of tomato juice, then this might be for you.

Would I drink it again? Yes, if it would impress anyone that I’m around. Would I drink it by myself on a Tuesday? No. Click here to see other Dr Pepper creations.
