Pinkies out, ladies. This is fancy stuff!

Fentiman’s is one of the most interesting brands that I’ve come across. They’re also one of the oldest. The bottles are beautiful, the flavors are unique, and they use an old fashioned botanical brewing process. I’ve had some of their other sodas in the past, but I need to revisit the brand for the purpose of this blog. I’ve had worse homework than that.

imgp3791Their rose lemonade reminded me of a summer tea service in an English garden. That’s funny because I’ve never been to a tea service. Or England. However, the flavors in this soda are layered, aromatic, and elegant. It’s a conversational soda that you’ll want to sip from the bottle or a fancy glass to make sure that everyone knows how proper you can be.

What I noticed first was a bright lemon flavor that was followed by a deep, but not harsh, ginger note. It contains fermented ginger, so that would account for it. The rose oil hits late and strikes first as a sort of perfume but lingers on your tongue for a unique finish. The pastel pink color and rose aromatics might make you think it’s a drink designed for old ladies…I won’t tell if you won’t.

This mellow sparkling lemonade deserves a solid 8.2 out of 10. I’d definitely drink it again and look forward to their other flavors (Dandelion Burdock, Wild English Elderflower, Sparkling Lime and Jasmine, etc.).
