UPDATE! I tried this again using a different marshmallow product. The results were interesting. Check out that newer post here.
Here’s another Dr Pepper combo, although less successful than previous experiments. Fluffy Dr Pepper appeared on social media recently and I wanted to see if it was worth the hype. I believe it started with “Fluffy Coke”, but others quickly pivoted to Fluffy Dr Pepper. That’s where I’ll start, but I’ll try it with Coke at some point as well.

The key ingredient to these fluffy drinks is Marshmallow Fluff. Here on the West coast it’s labeled as “Marshmallow Cream”. It’s the same product, and is a spreadable version of marshmallow that’s traditionally used for baked goods and fluffernutter sandwiches (white bread, peanut butter, marshmallow fluff). For the fluffy soda you coat the inside of a glass with the marshmallow fluff, pour in your soda, and enjoy.

The fluff dissolves a bit with the soda, but quite a bit stays stuck to the glass. What I noticed is that the soda foamed up a lot, so the fluff was knocking out some of the carbonation from the Dr Pepper. When I drank it, the Dr Pepper seemed flat, but also tasted odd. The sweetener in the marshmallow fluff was not a compliment to the sweetener in the Dr Pepper. It’s hard to describe, but it really highlighted the fakeness of both products. The fluff with a little bit of Dr Pepper flavor was good (I scooped out the glass afterwards), but the Dr Pepper with a bit of fluff was terrible.
