I don’t believe I ever tried ginseng in any sort of identifiable form before trying this drink. It turns out there’s a pretty good reason why ginseng isn’t a common flavor. Most people don’t like dirty carrots.
Yeah, you read that right. Dirty carrots. I’m confident that there’s a health benefit to ginseng…it’s in a lot of “healthy” things. However, mixed with sugar and carbonated you might as well have dug up a fresh carrot, rinsed off the dirt into a pitcher, added some sugar and CO2 and called it good. Despite my feeling I managed to drink the whole thing.
This one comes down to a 2 out of 10. I definitely would not drink it again, but since I drank the whole thing it didn’t seem to warrant a full basement rating.
Purchased at Uwajimaya in Seattle.
Daryl, you are brave! I never finished my first bottle. Still unsure why this is so popular among the Asians, I suppose I am not a true Asian in heart.
While I am not a fan of Ginseng in general, I do like Ginseng tea! Next time you stroll to Chinatown, try it at Pacific Herb & Grocery. Address: 610 S Weller St, Seattle, WA 98104. It has freshly brewed Ginseng tea as sample drinks. I wonder how your taste bud thinks of this tea.
