One of my favorite things is sampling local beverages while traveling. I tried this Waialua Root Beer while visiting Maui (one of the Hawaiian islands) and don’t regret it. I probably picked it up at the local Foodland, but I could be wrong.

Flavor-wise, this was weak initially, but had a nice wintergreen finish. For people that don’t like root beer this would probably be one of those “tooth paste” flavored sodas that they just can’t get behind. I sipped on this while enjoying some bbq and was happy enough with the experience. Was this a stand-out? No. Would I use it as an excuse to come back to Maui? I wouldn’t turn it down.

Ultimately, not bad, but middle of the road. 6.5 out of 10.
