This is a local brew, so theoretically I’d rank it higher due to a NW bias. Zippy’s is a burger joint that I visited a long time ago in West Seattle. They have a strong reputation in the Seattle area and a pretty devoted following. Any restaurant that attempts their own root beer has my respect.

As far as this bottle goes, honestly, I thought it was probably a little too bitter for my tastes. Good carbonation, nice sweetness, but the aftertaste reminds me of tree bark. I’d drink it again, but not tomorrow. You know what, this would probably be best used for a float. That extra layer of cream and vanilla would smooth it out.

Let’s give it a  6.5 out of 10, but it could be a 7 if the ice cream does its thing.

Also, check out the restaurant if you’re in the neighborhood.
