Let’s take a trip back in time and reflect on how much I didn’t enjoy the King Cake Soda made by the Abita Brewery. Yeah, it’s a novelty flavor, but it was also really gross. That’s all I could think of while this root beer sat in my fridge waiting for me to gather the courage to review it.
Low and behold, it wasn’t bad. In fact, I really liked it. I’d call this a solid, but somewhat generic root beer. For me, that means that it had a deep root flavor, good carbonation, but there wasn’t any sort of defining personality behind it. It’s probably made with some sort of a root beer extract and then their own sugar blend (Louisiana cane sugar). This is a brew that would pair nicely with a big slice of spicy pepperoni pizza. If it was around I’d happily drink it again.
A 7 out of 10 in my book.
