This turned out to be much more difficult for me than it should have been. It certainly wasn’t as difficult for Andrew. For whatever reason when I smelled maple my brain registered something offensive, or at least not congruent with a beverage. Maybe I subconsciously associate maple with cheap breakfast sausage? I don’t know, but there’s nothing wrong with maple syrup. The soda tasted pretty good.
Have you ever thought about what maple syrup actually tastes like? It’s hard to describe. Most things tree derived have some sort of a bitter/sharp element (birch/sassafras/spruce). Maple is similar but it has so much natural sugar it ends up like a very smooth molasses.
If the world needs a breakfast soda, this could be it. Even before I knew what it was I would have finished the bottle if I had a whole one to myself. I give it a 7 out of 10 and recommend trying it. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
